• Go to all your prenatal care checkups, even if you feel fine.
• Don’t drink alcohol, including beer, wine, wine coolers and liquor.
• Quit smoking and stay away from secondhand smoke.
• Don’t use street drugs. Check with your provider before taking any medications.
• Eat healthy foods.
• Take a prenatal vitamin with 600 micrograms of folic acid in it every day.
• Drink AT LEAST six to eight glasses of water every day.
• Do something active every day.
• Reduce stress.
• Make time to rest every day.
• Practice safe sex.
• Go to your dentist for a regular checkup.
• Wear a seat belt in the car.
• Know the signs of preterm labor.
• Make a birth plan.
• Take an Infant CPR Class
